About Bishop Rey Domingo

His Ministry

Bishop Reynaldo (Rey) Domingo began his ministry at the age of 20 and was ordained a pastor when he was 21 years old. He completed his Bachelor in Theology at Febias College of Bible in 1975 and Master in Church Studies at the Asian Theological Seminary in 1980. He was the Chairman (or General Superintendent) of IRM Evangelical Church for 20 years, from its establishment in 1992 until 2012, and was ordained Bishop in 2001. He was awarded the Doctor of Christian Ministries (Ecclesiastical Recognition – Honoris Causa) by the IRM Bible Colleges Foundation Inc in 2014.

During his 59 years of ministry, he planted several thriving churches today such as IRM Ampid (San Mateo, Rizal), IRM Balasing (Sta. Maria, Bulacan), IRM Chorillo (Marikina City), IRM Lungsod Silangan (Antipolo City), IRM Malanday (Marikina City), IRM Pililla (Rizal) and IRM Siling Matanda (Pandi, Bulacan). In addition, two churches began at their own home and now has its own church building – IRM Cainta Sumulong (Rizal) and IRMville Community Church (Angat, Bulacan).

Bishop Rey started the Bicol Mission Project in December 1985 in Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes and Sorsogon. He also started the National Mission Project in January 1986 in Aurora, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Marinduque, Mindoro Occidental, Mindoro Oriental and Samar. Both these mission endeavors resulted in over 100 churches being established.

In order to prepare workers for both Mission Projects, he began a Missionary Training School in 1985. Many of the graduates have remained in full-time ministry, with several being leaders in IRM now. In August 2019, he began another Missionary Training School at IRMVille to train the next batch of church workers.

After stepping down as Chairman of IRM in 2012, he focused his energy in conducting seminars in various provinces in the Philippines, such as Aurora, Batangas, Bicol Provinces, Cavite, Isabela, Laguna, Marinduque, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Pangasinan, Polillo Island, Samar and Tarlac. He has also sponsored the college education of more than 20 children and spouses of pastors throughout the years.

All of his missionary and ministry undertakings have been funded by faith.

Due to COVID-19 situation, the Missionary Training School has been temporarily suspended. With his free time, Bishop Rey Domingo is currently doing online seminars in his Facebook and YouTube page Bishop Rey Domingo Ministries with the assistance of his family.

His Personal Life

Bishop Rey was born on 9 January 1941 to Francisco Domingo, a farmer, and Liwayway Cruz, a housewife. He was orphaned at an early age but was able to complete his education through his persistence in working as a farmer.

On 22 January 1966, he married his first love, Lualhati Rodriguez. She is the daughter of Rev. Pablo Rodriguez, who was then the pastor of his home church (IEMELIF Novaliches), and Ptra. Bernardina Vizcarra, a housewife.

They had five children – Ebenezer, Reynaldo Jr, Rene, Ethel May and Renette. Rey Jr married Beatriz Cruz, a member of IRM Marikina; Ethel May married Joel de Vera, a member of IRM Cainta; and Renette married Sidney Francisco, a member of IRM Marikina.

The Lord saw fit to take two of Bishop Rey’s children at an early age. Rene died of dengue when he was 6, on 23 December 1979. His sister, Renette, who was born two years after his death, was named after him at the request of Bishop Rey. Ezer died of cancer when he was 26, on 3 February 1993. He was in his first year at the UP Law School, on the way to fulfill Bishop Rey’s dream of being a lawyer and defending the poor.
